Widely regarded as a pioneer of modern Tamil literature, he blended science, technology, and human emotion with an accessible narrative style that broadened Tamil readership during the late 20th century. His detective stories featuring characters like Ganesh–Vasanth became widely beloved. Balachander, Mani Ratnam, and Shankar (film director), contributing dialogues or scripts for films such as Roja, Gentleman, Indian (1996 film), and Sivaji: The Boss.
